In the event you need to engage your Emergency Operations Plan (EOP), Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP), or Orders of Succession (OOS), do you also have a plan to ensure your communications capabilities? This can happen in the event that cell or internet service is overloaded or down, making your communications facility inoperable, whether your needs are short or long-range.

Water quality in the city has been an issue for years, affecting many people – residents, companies who use the water supply and elected leadership and environmental health regulators at local, state and federal levels trying to come to grips with the problem. The story has slowly spiraled out from being local to regional to national news.

Making Schools Safer: A Relationship Opportunity and a People Solution

Creating safer schools is a relationship opportunity that first and foremost, needs a people solution. Adding more surveillance cameras, metal detectors and security guards will help keep the guns and bad guys out, and make schools more “secure”, but the majority of “safety” problems happen within the schools themselves. No amount of beefing up security can stop kids’ prejudices, emotional acting out and peer-to-peer mistreatments from getting through the front doors.

Marijuana is one of the hottest topics being discussed today. Currently, 24 states and the District of Columbia have legalized medical marijuana in some form and four states and the District of Columbia have legalized the use of recreational marijuana. However, due to these changes in legislation in many states, employers are left feeling hazy. Often, employers are unclear about whether they can still enforce a drug-free environment. That answer depends on where you live.

However, history has shown that many major discoveries and advances in human knowledge have come from introverts, so make every effort to help them join the discussion. Be careful that your efforts do not lead to embarrassment; kindly and respectfully invite participation and warmly commend responsiveness.
